Aladdin (Scott Weinger and Brad Kane) and Jasmine’s (Linda Larkin and Liz Callaway) wedding is disrupted by a raid by the Forty Thieves. Cassim (John Rhys-Davies) is the King of Thieves and he wants an oracular staff given to the couple as a wedding gift. The thieves are driven off and Aladdin questions the Oracle (CCH Pounder) to learn about his family. Much to his dismay he discovers that his father is Cassim. Aladdin tracks the thieves down and defeats Sa’luk (Jerry Orbach), Cassim’s second in command, to win a place among the thieves. He wants to get to know his father and discover Cassim's motives both for the raid and for abandoning his family. It turns out that both relate to the fabled Hand of Midas, an artifact that can turn whatever it touches into gold. For a while Cassim is happy to be reunited with his son but eventually the lure of the Hand proves too great. The Genie (Robin Williams), Abu (Frank Welker) and Iago (Gilbert Gottfried) are along for the ride, aiding and hindering Aladdin by turns.
