Crossing Over brings forth the plight of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles. Max Borgan (Harrison Ford) is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer. He starts questioning the system and the ethics of his job when he has to play a role in sending a Mexican woman back without her child. Stories of many illegal immigrants mixed in Crossing Over are followed. Taslima Jahangir (Summer Bishil) comes into suspicion of authorities when she reads an essay in favour of 9/11 terrorists. An Australian actress called Claire Shephard (Alice Eve) is forced to cheat on her boyfriend and sleep with applications in-charge for getting a green card. Gavin Kossef (Jim Sturgess) is a musician of British origin who is pretending to be an Orthodox Jew in order to get a Green Card. A Korean boy gets involved with a gang and jeopardizes his chances of getting naturalized and an Iranian family is rounded up by FBI while defence attorney Denise Frankel (Ashley Judd) fights for their rights.
